Babluani, Gela

(1979, Tbilissi, Georgia-)

   The son of Georgian director Temur Babluani (b. 1948), he grew up in war-torn Georgia. He was seventeen years old when his father sent him to France, where he completed his studies. His first feature-length film won the World Cinema Jury Prize for a dramatic motion picture at the Sundance Film Festival and the Luigi de Laurentiis Award for a First Feature-Lion of the Future Mostra of Venice 2005.
