Charef, Mehdi

(October 21, 1952, Marnia, Oran, Algeria-)

   Algerian born, he arrived in France in 1963. From 1970 to 1983, he worked as a grinder in a factory and wrote short stories. He brought to the screen his first novel, Le Thé au Harem d'Archi Ahmed (Le Mercure de France, 1985), under the title of Le Thé au Harem d'Archimède.
